09-27-95 Research Briefing Scheduled

RESEARCH BRIEFING FOR COLUMBUS BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT LEADERS

     A select group of business and government leaders from 
Central Ohio will be briefed tomorrow (9/28) on important 
research underway at Ohio State University.  The briefings 
are set for 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in room 405 of the Ohio 
Supercomputer Center, 1224 Kinnear Road.  News media are 
welcome to attend.  Researchers and graduate students will 
discuss ongoing projects in the following areas:

     -- Combining computerized virtual reality with medical 
training and clinical procedures;

     -- Studies of atomic interaction that could lead to 
better computer disk drives and recording equipment;

     -- Research on materials and techniques that are 
improving industrial manufacturing methods;

     -- The remapping of Ohio using space-based technology 
and global positioning satellites.
