Here OHIO STATE TO HOST PRESIDENT'S MIDWEST ECONOMIC CONFERENCE COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University has accepted an invitation from the White House to be the site of President Clinton's Midwest Regional Economic Conference on Oct. 20. The probable site will be the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St. "We are delighted to host this important event," said Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee. "It is an honor, as well as an opportunity to bring this forum to Ohio State. President Clinton is holding these conferences at universities because such a setting emphasizes the crucial role that universities play in the economy of our nation. I am happy to join Governor Voinovich and Mayor Lashutka in welcoming the conference participants to Ohio State, the city of Columbus, and the state of Ohio." President Clinton and Vice President Gore will take part in the conference, which will explore economic issues specific to the Midwest (Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin). The conference at Ohio State is the third regional economic conference held this year.
