10-09-95 High on Pride Media Advisory NEWS ADVISORY: "HIGH ON PRIDE" CAMPUS CLEANUP IS SATURDAY Some 2,000 Ohio State University students, faculty and staff will join neighborhood residents in the third "High on Pride" University Community Cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers will pick up litter, remove bulk trash, sweep streets and sidewalks, and collect recyclables in the neighborhood just east of campus. The area covers 267 city blocks with 33 miles of sidewalk and more than 67 miles of roadway. The north boundary is Blake Avenue, the south is Ninth Avenue and the east is the railroad tracks. The western boundary is North High street and the Ohio State campus. Columbus Mayor Greg Lashutka and councilman Matt Habash will greet volunteers at 9 a.m. at the registration area at the Wexner Center plaza at 15th Avenue and High Street. Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee will arrive around 10:30 a.m. to speak with participants and to start in the cleanup at 11 a.m. All volunteers will receive free T-shirts and will be served coffee, juice, donuts, fresh fruits and soft drinks. Radio station CD101 will broadcast from the plaza area all morning, providing music and public address announcements.
