96-02-12 News Advisory: Economic Impact News Conference REMINDER: NEWS CONFERENCE WEDNESDAY TO RELEASE ECONOMIC IMPACT REPORT President E. Gordon Gee will host a news conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, to release an updated report on the economic impact of The Ohio State University on the state of Ohio. The news conference will be held in the conference room of the university's Business Technology Center, 1275 Kinnear Road (formerly the Simmons mattress factory). The center is illustrative of one of the ways Ohio State works with industry in ways that stimulate economic growth. There will be opportunities to photograph work at the Business Technology Center after the news conference. Gee will present highlights from a study conducted by faculty and students of the School of Public Policy and Management that shows that Ohio State is returning even more economic benefits to the businesses and citizens of Ohio than it was in 1992, when the first such report was done. Several other university officials will also speak and take questions, including L. Lee Walker, who directed the project. She is director of public management programs in the School of Public Policy and Management and a former state budget director. Copies of the full report will be distributed at the news conference. It provides considerable detail about how the university leverages its state funding to provide benefits to Ohio that are many times over the state's investment in the university. There is plenty of parking space at the Business Technology Center, which is located on the south side of Kinnear Road midway between North Star and Kenny roads. Please enter through the front door. # Contact: Ruth Gerstner, University Communications, 292-8424.
