96-02-29 Research Park Board to Meet March 1 RESEARCH PARK BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO HOLD INAUGURAL MEETING FRIDAY COLUMBUS -- The Board of Directors of The Ohio State University Research Park Corporation will hold its first meeting on Friday, March 1, at the Research Park offices, 1929 Kenny Road, beginning at 8 a.m. The agenda for this organizational meeting includes a review of the strategic plan for the first phase of the park, which includes the university buildings along Kinnear Road. The board will also elect officers and discuss the incorporation of the organization. The nine-member board includes three representatives of Ohio State: President E. Gordon Gee, Vice President for Research Edward Hayes, and university Trustee Ted Celeste; and six members representing the community: Ron Brooks of Bank One, Nancy Kramer of ReSource Marketing, State Rep. Priscilla Mead, Ohio State Vice President for Agricultural Administration Bob Moser, Dick Royer of Kohr, Royer, Griffith, and Scott Whitlock of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease. The Research Park Corporation is being jointly funded by the university, the city of Columbus and the state of Ohio, each of which has allocated $50,000 for the first three months of operation. The not-for-profit corporation seeks to greatly enhance the university's current research park, which has been in operation for more than a decade. It is planned to be the anchor of a "research corridor" along State Route 315, and will facilitate technology transfer from university-based research to the business sector and increase economic development for the city and state. It will also provide opportunities for students to gain practical experience and for faculty to consult, as well as bring into the university more research grants and contracts from industry. # Contact: John Hall, associate vice president for research, (614) 292-1582.
