96-03-27 Visitor Center Open House April 3 NEWS ADVISORY: OHIO STATE'S STUDENT VISITOR CENTER TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE APRIL 3 Prospective students and other visitors to The Ohio State University now have a new, centrally located place to get information about the university. The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid is hosting an open house and tour of the new student visitor center located in Enarson Hall, 154 W. 12th Ave., from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3. Area reporters are invited to join other guests in touring the center and meeting the staff. Formerly housed in Lincoln Tower near the Olentangy River, the center recently moved to the main part of campus to centralize and enhance campus visits by prospective students and their families and to direct visitors to an academic, central campus location. The program on April 3 will include remarks by President E. Gordon Gee; James Mager, director of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid; and Laura Lembo, assistant director of admissions. Several alumni and prospective students will also take part. The center houses resources such as admissions publications and promotional materials, including videos, that offer information about the courses and major fields of study offered at Ohio State, as well as information about student life, residential life and athletics. Admission and financial aid applications are available at the center. Student guides lead walking tours of the campus twice daily, departing from the visitor center at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. During the open house, light refreshments will be served and parking for journalists is available on 12th Avenue directly in front of the center. An optional campus tour will be offered at the end of the program. Some 30,000 prospective students, parents, family members, community groups and alumni visit the university yearly. # Contact: Laura Lembo, assistant director of admissions in the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, (614) 292-0418.
