96-05-14 Terry McMillan to Meet Reporters at 6:30 today NEWS ADVISORY: "WAITING TO EXHALE" AUTHOR TERRY MCMILLAN AVAILABLE TO MEET WITH PRESS Waiting to Exhale author Terry McMillan will meet with reporters today at 6:30 p.m. in the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St. in the second floor lounge. McMillian is scheduled for a 7 p.m. public presentation in the union ballrooms to kick-off ceremonies for The Ohio State University African American Heritage Festival May 14-18. McMillan will give a reading of her latest novel How Stella Got Her Groove Back, answer questions during an open-microphone session, and hold a book signing immediately afterwards. Her first novel, Mama, received an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation and has sold 1.2 million copies. Disappearing Acts, her second novel, sold 1.5 million copies and has been purchased by MGM Pictures. McMillan's third book, Waiting to Exhale, spent 38 weeks on The New York Times hard cover bestseller list and was adapted into a feature film starring Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett. McMillan co-wrote the screenplay and was executive producer of the film. Admission for the reading is $4 with university identification, and $5 without.
