96-06-03 Seven Named Joyce Scholars SEVEN STUDENTS NAMED GLENNA JOYCE SCHOLARS AT OHIO STATE COLUMBUS -- Seven outstanding high school seniors from Central Ohio have been awarded Glenna Joyce Scholarships to study at The Ohio State University. The merit and need based awards provide the students with full tuition, room and board, and an allowance for books and miscellaneous expenses and has a current value of approximately $47,200 renewable for 12 quarters. The Joyce scholars were chosen because of their high academic achievement, their intent to pursue honors work at the college level and financial need. The scholarship was established in 1961 by the late Glenna R. Joyce to enable students from Central Ohio to enroll at Ohio State or the University of Notre Dame, and is affiliated with the Columbus Foundation. Following is a listing, alphabetically by hometown, of the winners. BEXLEY: Kimberly Ann Larcomb is the daughter of Antonia Saltsman, 5197 Orlando Court (43232), and Kip Larcomb, 86 S. Cassady Rd. (43209). She is a National Merit Commended Scholar and a three time varsity letter recipient in track and field for Bexley High School. She plans to major in chemistry. DUBLIN: Katherine Lo is the daughter of Elsie and Tom Lo, 355 Ashworth Court. She is a National Merit Scholar and plans to major in engineering. GAHANNA: Casia Horseman is the daughter of Deborah Horseman, 78 Imperial Drive. She is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in neurology. LANCASTER: John Kyle Friend is the son of Larry and Janet Friend, 1125 Ridge Rd. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Commended Student. He plans to major in psychology. Joshua Alan Holt is the son of Rick and Mary Holt, 1623 N. Columbus St. He is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students and a member of the Science Olympiad Team. He plans to major in engineering. REYNOLDSBURG: Joseph Melchi is the son of Rebecca Callahan, 2120 Commons Rd. He is a National Merit Scholar and plans to major in genetic engineering. Ronnie Lee Pavlov is the son of Ron and Judy Pavlov, 6507 Helm Court. He is graduating from high school with honors at the age of 13 with some 50 hours of college credit.
