96-07-15 Gee to testify before Congress NEWS ADVISORY: OSU PRESIDENT GORDON GEE TO TESTIFY BEFORE HOUSE SUBCOMMITTEE E. Gordon Gee, president of The Ohio State University, will testify Thursday (7/18) in Washington, D.C., before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education, Training and Life-Long Learning. He is scheduled to speak during a session, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building, on the cost of higher education. Gee has been invited as a representative of the American Council on Education to provide his perspective on the current affordability of post-secondary education, the reasons for tuition increases and the outlook for the future. He was invited by the subcommittee chair, Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon (R- Calif.), who said the purpose of the hearing is to give members of Congress insight into the rising costs of higher education and the possible remedies to this problem.
