SLEEP STUDY PARTICIPANTS NEEDED--As people age, they may sleep less, prompting concerns about their ability to get a good night's sleep. A study by Charles Pollak, an expert in sleep disorders, suggests that older adults (ages 70+) may need less sleep than their younger counterparts. Using new time-isolation suites at the University Medical Center, Pollak is examining the natural rhythms of human sleep as particpants spend seven consecutive days without any external time cues such as clocks. Participants are free to wake and sleep when they feel the need. Pollak is looking for more participants for this study. Both younger (ages 20-35) and older healthy men and women, who have no major physical or mental illnesses, who are not taking any medications and who are non- smokers are eligible.
