SPRING QUARTER CLASSES BEGIN-- March 31. ANTARCTIC DINOSAUR EXPEDITION DISCUSSED--March 31. During the austral (Australia) summer of 1990-91, scientists discovered the first Antarctic Jurassic dinosaurs in an area about 600 miles from the geographic South Pole. William Hammer, professor of geology at Augustana College, will discuss the expedition at the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State from 8-9 p.m. in 240 Scott Hall, 1090 Carmack Rd.. Hammer’s lecture, Dinosaurs on Ice: Jurassic Dinosaurs from Antarctica, is sponsored by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Ohio Geological Society. A presentation and discussion of alternative planning concepts for the development of the South Campus District will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in 130 Drinko Hall (Law Bldg.), 55 W. 12th Ave. The South District generally includes university-owned properties in the area bounded by West 12th Avenue, North High Street and the Olentangy River. This plan is one of a series of district plans embarked on by the Office of the University Architect and Physical Planning as part of the university’s master planning process, which is considering planning and development policies for the Columbus campus for the next 50 years. This is the second of three open forums on the South District plan; the first was held in January and the final one is planned for June. Getting financial assistance, returning to work, managing disease symptoms and new treatment options are topics of a free seminar sponsored by The Ohio State University Medical Center’s AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. The seminar will begin with a free lunch at 11:30 a.m. in Newton Hall, 1585 Neil Avenue. During the afternoon there will be panel discussions and smaller group sessions on a variety of topics. Dr. Michael Para and Judy Neidig, a nurse in the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit, will discuss current and future treatment options at 3:30 p.m. The AIDS Clinical Trials Unit tests experimental treatments for HIV infection and its related illnesses.
