97-07-18 Barbara Rich to Head Minority Affairs BARBARA J. RICH NAMED INTERIM VICE PROVOST FOR MINORITY AFFAIRS COLUMBUS -- Barbara J. Rich, director of recruitment and development in The Ohio State University’s Office of Minority Affairs, has been named interim vice provost for minority affairs effective Aug. 1. through June 30, 1998. Rich’s appointment was approved by the university’s Board of Trustees on July 11. As director of recruitment and development in the Office of Minority Affairs, she is responsible for oversight of the Minority Scholars Program, the Freshman Foundation Program, the Migrant Scholarship Program (formerly known as the Campbell Soup Migrant Scholarship Program), and the Carl Rowan Project Excellence Program in Washington, D.C. Approximately 1,700 students are served through these four programs. Prior to coming to minority affairs, Rich served as associate director of admissions and financial aid in the College of Law. She has been a member of the Ohio State staff since 1977.
