97-07-21 Shoji Wins Student Recognition Award SHOJI WINS STUDENT RECOGNITION AWARD COLUMBUS -- Isao Shoji of HILLIARD, a senior with a double major in Chinese and molecular genetics, has won the Ohio State University Board of Trustees Student Recognition Award. The award was presented during the July 11 meeting of the board. Shoji was honored for his work as a volunteer at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, and as an honors peer mentor helping incoming honors students to adjust to a university setting. Shoji is a Japanese tutor, sings in the Men’s Glee Club and Symphonic Choir, and is a member of the Sphinx Senior Honorary. “I am honored to have been selected to receive this reward. I thank all of my high school teachers and advisers, as well as my college professors, who are the reason I am what I am today,” Shoji said. The 1994 valedictorian of Hilliard High School, Shoji is the son of Minori and Shuneki Shoji, 5057 Stonecroft Court. He is scheduled to graduate from Ohio State in June 1998 and plans to attend medical school.
