STUDENTS EXPLORE LINKS BETWEEN TECHNOLOGY AND THE HUMANITIES-- July 27-Aug. 2. Sixty Ohio high school students will live on campus for a week while exploring the relationship between the humanities and technology. Participants in the College of Humanities program will attend work sessions led by faculty integrating technology with the humanities, which include history, philosophy, English, foreign languages, linguistics, and ethnic and women’s studies. MEDICAL CENTER OFFERS PROGRAMS ON LIPOSUCTION, ULCERS, MEDICARE-- July 29-31. (No, there is no direct connection between the three.) Solve the Mystery of Medicare looks at the latest in Medicare and supplemental insurance plans at 1 p.m. July 30 at the Pharmacia & Upjohn Center for Health Information at Stoneridge, 4047 W. Dublin-Granville Road. Body Contouring and Liposuction examines treatments for sagging breasts, bulging tummies and extra skin on arms, thighs and buttocks at 7 p.m. July 31 at the Pharmacia & Upjohn Center for Health Information. Local media softball teams will take on the police and other celebrity teams in the Agonis/Media Softball Challenge, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the university softball field on Fyffe Road. Proceeds from the game benefit the memorial to Mike Blankenship, the OSU police officer who was killed in the line of duty February. The memorial will be constructed in front of the new police station (Mike Blankenship Hall). Format for the tournament is Texas shoot-out- -one pitch per batter.
