Pet nutrition, diseases, selection and other interesting information is now available from the Scott Center at The College of Veterinary Medicine. Accessible through the Vet College home page at http://www.vet.ohio-state.edu, the Scott Center information is presented in a colorful, interactive way and draws on faculty expertise as well as resources available over the Internet. The web page is part of the Scott Center initiative, a program started with a $250,000 gift from the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust of Cleveland for development of a statewide animal welfare advocacy program to support relief of animal suffering. The Scott Animal Well Being Initiative is being conducted in three parts. First is a survey of employees and volunteers from humane organizations and animal shelters in Ohio to determine what information is needed. The informational needs will then be examined through educational materials and seminars developed for animal care personnel. Finally, experts in media production, instructional design and continuing education will create print and electronic materials on issues related to animal cruelty and animal wellness.
