97-09-25 Open Forum on Presidential Search NEWS ADVISORY: OPEN FORUM ON MONDAY SEEKS CAMPUS INPUT IN SEARCH FOR NEXT OHIO STATE PRESIDENT The Ohio State University Board of Trustees has begun the search for the next president of the university. As a method of gathering campus participation in the search process, the Trustees will host an open forum on Monday, Sept. 29, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Theater of the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St. Students, faculty and staff members, campus neighbors and interested members of the public can sign up at the door to speak. Comments are limited to five minutes per person. A similar forum was held in downtown Columbus on Sept. 16 for civic and community leaders and the public. On Sept. 5, the Trustees appointed a 17-person search committee and hired a national consulting firm to assist. The committee has defined the characteristics sought in the new president, and has placed position announcements in numerous publications. The trustees hope to announce the selection of a new president by the end of March 1998. President E. Gordon Gee has announced his resignation, effective Jan. 1, to become the next president of Brown University. # Contact: Ruth Gerstner, University Communications, (614) 292-8424.
