97-10-08 Advisory: MTV To Broadcast Live from Ohio State NEWS ADVISORY: MTV LIVE TO BROADCAST FROM STUDENT DORMITORY ROOM AT OHIO STATE Two students at The Ohio State University have been chosen to interact with a live MTV broadcast from a student's dorm room inside Drackett Tower, 161 Curl Drive, Thursday (10/9) from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The students will talk face-to-face with an MTV Video Jockey and celebrity guest live via computer and a video camera. They will be asked about their taste in music and what they want MTV to air, and will also get to question the celebrity guest. MTV Live is part of new interactive programming at MTV that targets various college campuses nationwide for student participation and viewership. The system is wired through ISDN telephone lines run through the student's dorm room and connected to a computer with a camera perched on top. The system connects the students to the broadcast studio, allowing two-way television for the students to interact with the VJ. Rachelle Beal, a senior from Erie, Penn., majoring in sociology, and Kim Jones, a senior from Barbados majoring in criminology, are the students involved. # CONTACT: Jeff Redfield, Drackett Hall director, 292-8611.
