COLUMBUS FIREFIGHTERS PRACTICE RESCUES IN DOOMED CAMPUS BUILDING--Jan. 17-18. Ohio State’s Neil and 17th Building (conveniently located at the intersection of Neil and 17th avenues) is due for demolition later this year. The university has agreed to allow a final use for the building when the Columbus Fire Department conducts rescue training exercises there on Saturday and Sunday. The training will involve smoke but no actual fire. Fire Department command personnel at the site can offer the most complete details of the exercises. Members of the Marion community are invited to discuss how citizens of different races can cooperate and understand each other as part of the National Days of Dialogue on Race Relations. Marion joins dozens of cities participating in the event which invites people to talk about race relations during the week of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. The discussion will take place on Monday, 7-9:30 p.m. in the Morrill Hall auditorium at Ohio State Marion. Moderators will be Larry Prude, coordinator of continuing education at Ohio State Marion, and Daniel Christie, professor of psychology at Ohio State Marion. Journaling is part of a series of educational programs offered by the OSU Wellness Program during winter quarter. David Stein, a professor of physical activity, discusses journaling as a technique to become more in touch with your inner voice and as a means to increase dialogue and problem solving. The seminar is from 12-1 p.m., 217H Hagerty Hall, 1775 College Rd. CONTACT: Wellness Program, 292-2266. WEDDING ATTIRE ON DISPLAY--through April 11. Wedding costumes from the 19th and 20th centuries are on display in Wedding Traditions, a new exhibition from the College of Human Ecology’s Historic Costume and Textiles Collection. The exhibition takes a cross-cultural and historic look at wedding attire, including traditional white and non-white gowns from Europe, and traditional wedding clothing from Japan, Palestine, India and Africa. The exhibit at the Schottenstein Wing of the College, 1787 Neil Ave., is open to the public from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
