MEDICAL CENTER TEAMS WITH GRAETER’S TO PUT WINTER DEPRESSION ON ICE--Feb. 7. With an average of 292 cloudy days a year, Columbus ranks in the top 20 percent of the cloudiest cites in the country. That distinction may contribute to what is commonly called the winter blues. In a unique educational effort, the OSU Medical Center and Graeter’s Ice Cream are teaming up for a presentation on seasonal depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Clinical Nurse Specialist Angie Chessner will present information and wellness tips on winter depression at 2 p.m. on Saturday (2/7) at the Graeter’s at 1534 W. African Americans: Celebrating and Creating Legacies is the theme for the 28th annual celebration of United Black World Month at Ohio State. Thanks to new treatments, people with HIV are living longer. But can patients keep up with the rigors of the complex and expensive treatments? Carole Anderson, dean of The Ohio State University College of Nursing, and Stephen Stern, a psychiatry professor at Ohio State, explain their work in the third of a 15- part HIV/AIDS Research Seminar Series. The interdisciplinary program, organized by university faculty, presents national experts in HIV/AIDS and health promotion.
