HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS DRAW FANS TO CAMPUS--Mar. 20- 21, 26-28. Cars decorated with high school banners will flock to Ohio State for the annual statewide basketball tournaments at St. John Arena. The O.H.S.A.A. Girls’ State Basketball Tournament takes place on March 20, 2-11 p.m., and March 21, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. The O.H.S.A.A. Boys’ State Basketball Tournament games will be held March 26-28, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Traffic around campus, especially Route 315 and Olentangy River Road, will be disrupted during these times. Unique hairdos, wigs or other festive headgear are encouraged for party-goers attending the 1998 Hair Ball, 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Wexner Center, 1871 N. High St. Sponsored by 12 1/4, a group of Wexner Center members, the event features dancing and prizes for the “best-tressed.” Proceeds support the center’s programs for children and families. Taxpayers on low or fixed incomes, individuals with disabilities and the elderly can receive free assistance with basic federal and state tax returns throughout the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Ohio State. Law students offer their skills from 5-9 p.m. each Tuesday at the College of Law, 55 W. 12th Ave. Taxpayers must bring their 1997 tax forms, 1997 income, deduction and credit information, and 1996 tax returns. PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PREVENTING HEART DISEASE IN WOMEN--Commonly identified as a man’s problem in the past, heart disease is now the No. 1 killer of women. But the disease strikes women later and with different symptoms than men. The new OSU Women’s Heart Health Program offers screening, testing and risk assessment for women age 35 and older. Although the risk for developing heart problems escalates with age, it is often determined by early lifestyle habits. The program helps lay the groundwork for preventing or delaying health problems common in older women. Appointments are made through the OSU Women’s Resource Line, 293- 7575.
