Playing in its first-ever berth in the NCAA tournament, the OSU Hockey team meets Yale at 5 p.m. Friday at Yost Arena in Ann Arbor. A Buckeye win would set up a second-round game against No. 1 ranked Michigan State on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Buckeyes lost to Michigan State in the Big Ten title game last Saturday to earn the NCAA berth. NBC executives and soap- opera stars, including Ohio State alum Sherri Saum of Sunset Beach, will bring the NBC Daydream Tour to campus promote to NBC’s daytime programs and offer advice to aspiring TV stars and writers. The event is co-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, College of the Arts, and NBC. --April 1-2, students may attend any of six seminars in the Drake Union’s Thurber Theatre, 1849 Cannon Dr. Among the seminars: How to Pursue a Career in Theatre or Television, (Apr. 1, 12:30 p.m.), Entertainment Law (Apr. 1, 4 p.m.), Press and Promotions (Apr. 2, 1 p.m.), and Writing for the Soaps (Apr. 2, 3 p.m.). In addition, a select group of students will do a mock screen test with a casting director. --April 3, 17 soap opera stars from Sunset Beach, Days of Our Lives and Another World will meet students and sign autographs from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Ohio Union West Ballroom, 1739 N. High St. The event also includes a mayoral proclamation and free pizza. --April 4-5, the stars will appear at several community events, including the Columbus Crewhome opener on Saturday, 6-7:30 p.m.at Ohio Stadium. Twenty years after the Supreme Court’s 1978 Bakke decision, affirmative action remains one of the most hotly contested legal and social issues in America. The Future of Bakke: Socio-Legal Perspectives on Affirmative Action in Education brings prominent scholars in law and the social sciences to Ohio State’s College of Law, 55 W. 12th Ave., to consider the future of affirmative action in higher education. The conference opens at 1:30 p.m. Friday with an introduction from Law Dean Gregory Williams, author of Life on the Color Line. Panels are titled: Bakke in the Admissions Office and the Courts; Affirmative Action in the Classroom; Is Affirmative Action Fair?; and The Future of Affirmative Action.
