POLAR RESEARCHERS HOST OPEN FORUM--June 2. The Byrd Polar Research Center will present Earth Science Integration and Curriculum Innovation, 3:30-4:30 p.m. at 240 Scott Hall. A panel of six researchers from the Byrd Center and other facilities will join the education forum to look at the content, pedagogy, assessment and dissemination of earth sciences in undergraduate curriculum. The School of Music presents free outdoor concerts at one of the campus' most picturesque settings: Browning Amphitheater next to Mirror Lake. Former OSU Political Science Professor Phil Burgess, now a columnist and futurist, will present Telecommunications, Computers and the InfoCulture at noon at the Athletic Club, 136 E. Broad St. Burgess, president of the think tank Center for the New West, will discuss how the telecomputing revolution is affecting different industries, lifestyles, workstyles and social movements. Kevin Smith, director of Clerks, Chasing Amy and Mallrats will speak at 7:30 p.m. at Independence Hall, 1923 Neil Ave. Smith was forced to rescheduled from June 2 due to a production conflict with his current film project, Dogma. The Board of Trustees and its committees will hold its regular June meeting at 11 a.m. in the Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Rd. Ohio State's Jerome Schottenstein Center, on schedule for completion in October, will host an NBA preseason exhibition game between the Philadelphia '76ers and Chicago Bulls on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event go on sale June 6 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster Charge-By-Phone.
