MEDIA ARRANGEMENTS FOR JOHN GLENN VISIT ON FRIDAY, SEPT. 18
Sen. John Glenn will visit The Ohio State University on Friday afternoon (9/18) for an announcement of the creation of the proposed John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy at the university. This is one of very few times the senator will be available to any media before the launch of the space shuttle Discovery. There will be four opportunities for media coverage on Friday:
2 p.m.
Announcement of The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy, in the auditorium of Independence Hall, 1923 Neil Ave. (corner of 17th). This event is open to the public. There will be a media seating section, tripod camera locations and mult box. Media parking is on Neil Avenue -- enter from 17th Ave.
Follow Tuttle Park Place along east side of stadium and it becomes 17th Ave. after the turn. Vehicles displaying the OSU media parking pass will be admitted by the gate attendant.
2:30 to 3:00 p.m.
News conference with Senator Glenn and President Kirwan
in Independence Hall. They will take questions from reporters but will not be able to do one-on-one interviews at this time.
4:00 p.m.
Senator Glenn will hold a roundtable discussion with about 20 students and faculty in 156 University Hall. This is a photo
opportunity only -- no questions, please.
5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Senator Glenn and President Kirwan will be available for one-on-one interviews and live shots. These must be prescheduled
by calling Ruth Gerstner at (614) 292-8424 by 5 p.m. Thursday,
Sept. 17. Verification of time slots will be faxed before 9 a.m.
Friday. If the weather is good, these will be conducted outside, on the lawn near Independence Hall.
CREDENTIALING: Media personnel will be credentialed on-site. Please check in at the media table in Independence Hall and be prepared to show a photo ID designating your media affiliation.
