STATEMENT ON ACCIDENT AT OHIO STATE
Three persons have been admitted to University Hospitals
following a vehicular-pedestrian accident this morning at The
Ohio State University.
They are: Eugene Johnson, 37, of Columbus, a custodial
worker; Floyd Meadows, 55, of Lancaster, assistant superintendent
of buildings; and Estelle Silbermann, 60, of Columbus, who has no
known affiliation with the university.
Johnson and Meadows are listed in serious condition and are
undergoing surgery. Silbermann is in fair condition.
University Police are investigating the incident, which
occurred shortly before 8 a.m. in a parking lot behind Lazenby
Hall, 1827 Neil Ave. A car driven by Silbermann apparently went
out of control and struck the two men as they stood in a loading
dock area behind the Lazenby Hall and adjacent to the parking
lot. Both men are assigned to work in Lazenby Hall and were
taking a scheduled break.
Police do not expect to conclude their investigation today.
