OHIO STATE CELEBRATES HOMECOMING WITH BUCKEYE BLAST AND PEP RALLY

	COLUMBUS -- Nationally known actor and comedian Sinbad will 
perform at the first annual Buckeye Blast and pep rally Thursday 
(10/15) at 7:30 p.m. in St. John Arena.

	The blast is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and 
is part of an enhanced homecoming celebration that focuses on 
diversity and community building.

	"Historically, homecoming is one of the most memorable and 
enjoyable activities experienced by college students, alumni and 
the university community," said David Williams II, vice president 
for student and urban/community affairs.  "We at The Ohio State 
University are proud that with this year's homecoming we will 
recapture that spirit and create an atmosphere that combines 
excitement, energy and fun.  We will also create lasting memories."

	The event will feature Ohio State Football Coach John Cooper, 
Women's Basketball Coach Beth Burns, the football team, marching 
band, Buckeye Dance Force, cheerleaders, Brutus Buckeye and the 
crowning of the homecoming king and queen.  WNCI radio personality 
Jimmy Jam will serve as the master of ceremonies.

	Tickets are $5 for students and $12 for all others and are 
available at the Office of Student Activities or the St. John Arena 
ticket office.  Accessible seating will be available for persons 
with disabilities, and an American Sign Language interpreter will 
be available during the event.  Video and still cameras will not be 
permitted.
