                       NEWS ADVISORY:
SPACE WEEK BLASTS OFF WITH NEWS CONFERENCE ON THURSDAY

The Ohio State University will hold a news conference on
Thursday, Oct. 22, at 9:30 a.m. in the second floor lobby of
Bricker Hall, 190 N. Oval Mall, to announce its Space Week
celebration plans. Space Week was created by the university to
recognize the role of Sen. John Glenn in the Discovery space
shuttle mission and to highlight Ohio State space-related
research. Space Week includes a series of events from Oct. 26 to
Nov. 7. Some related events also took place earlier this month.

President William E. Kirwan will be joined by Ed Ray,
interim senior vice president and provost, and William Baeslack,
interim vice president for research, at Thursday’s news
conference. Also on hand will be several faculty members engaged
in space-related research, with displays and exhibits
illustrating their studies.

The news conference is scheduled to end at 10:30 a.m. An
audio mult box will be provided. Media parking is available on
17th Avenue (north side of Bricker Hall).
