                         NEWS ADVISORY:
CAMPUS FORUMS ON RESTRUCTURING OFFICE OF MINORITY AFFAIRS

Two campuswide forums to discuss the proposed restructuring
of The Ohio State University’s Office of Minority Affairs will
take place this month. The first will be Wednesday (11/4) from
3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in 100 Stillman Hall, 1947 College Road. The
second will be on Nov. 18 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Ohio Union
Conference Theatre, 1739 N. High St.

The forums are being coordinated by Edward J. Ray, interim
senior vice president and provost. “We want to make the
operations of the Office of Minority Affairs as efficient as
possible and the services to students as effective as they can
be,” Ray said. “We want to reduce administrative costs and to
align services with OMA to eliminate duplication and to enhance
our support of the students who are here, as well as those pre-
collegiate students who are assisted within the scope of our
programs.”

Ray said that he and other administrators are very
interested in hearing the views of the university’s students,
faculty, staff and friends.

The forums are one of a series of efforts being made to
garner opinion and comment on the proposed restructuring plan.
Comments may also be submitted in writing, by e-mail or fax.

Speakers at the forums will be asked to limit their comments
to three minutes each and to focus their comments on the
restructuring plan and other ways that OMA services and
operations can be enhanced.
