NEWS ADVISORY:
STUDENTS PLAN RELIEF EFFORT FOR NICARAGUAN HURRICANE VICTIMS
Members of Ohio State University’s Undergraduate Student
Government are organizing a campus and community fund-raising
effort to provide relief to Nicaragua, which has been devastated
by Hurricane Mitch. Led by Alberto Bolanos, a junior at Ohio
State and grandson of Nicaraguan Vice President Enrique Bolanos
Geyer, the students are encouraging all students, faculty and
staff of the university to contribute to the Nicaraguan Relief
Fund.
Bolanos will be available to talk with reporters about the
fund-raising drive every afternoon this week in the Undergraduate
Student Government offices, 201 Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St. He
has heard first-hand reports of the disaster in his home country
from his grandfather, who is heading Nicaragua’s relief effort,
and he is also in touch with other Nicaraguan students who are
launching similar campaigns at Northwestern, Purdue and other
U.S. universities.
