UNIVERSITY WELCOMES GLENN TO CAMPUS
Ohio State University President William E. Kirwan will join
students, faculty, staff and administrators on Wednesday, (12/16)
to roll out the scarlet and gray carpet welcoming U.S. Senator
John Glenn and Mrs. Glenn to the university. It will be the
Glenns’ first trip to Ohio State since Sept. 18, when the
university announced establishment of the John Glenn Institute
for Public Service and Public Policy.
During the program, Senator Glenn will present President
Kirwan with an Ohio State memento that Glenn took aboard the
space shuttle Discovery.
The dinner and program will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in
the Drake Union Thurber Theatre, 1849 Cannon Drive. Media
wishing to cover the program should arrive around 8 p.m. and
enter Drake Union through the northeast door on the ground level.
Take the elevator to the first floor. An audio mult box will be
provided.
The program will also include performances by the Muskingum
College Choir and by faculty, staff and students in the Ohio
State College of the Arts.
The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public
Policy is designed to provide expanded academic and service

for citizens and policymakers. Faculty research concerning
pressing American problems will be shared with government
officials through institute programming.
Glenn already has been appointed as a University Honors
Distinguished Fellow and an adjunct professor in both the School
of Public Policy and Management and the Department of Political
Science.
