IMPEACHMENT EXPERTISE--The question of whether President Clinton
should be impeached is as much a political issue as a legal one,
says Michael Les Benedict, an expert on impeachment and a
professor of history at Ohio State. Benedict, also an adjunct
professor of law, is the author of The Impeachment and Trial of
Andrew Johnson. He says impeachement is a mix of law and
politics.

OPRAH’S TRAINER DISCUSSES LIFESTYLE CHANGES--Jan 9. Bob Greene,
personal trainer to Oprah Winfrey and co-author of Making the
Connection, will discuss ways to achieve better health and well-
being at 10:30 a.m. in Rhodes Hall Auditorium, 450 W. 10th Ave.
An exercise physiologist, Greene will offer 10 steps to building
a happier, healthier lifestyle including new approaches to eating
and exercise, and methods of daily renewal and enhanced self-
confidence. He’ll also share stories of Oprah’s personal journey
to total health and well-being.

INPUT WANTED ON UNIVERSITY GATEWAY CENTER--Jan 12. Three
competing teams of developers are visiting Ohio State this month
to hear ideas and concerns from students, residents and others
regarding the University Gateway Center, a major urban
redevelopment project proposed for the area around 11th Avenue
and High Street. Open houses with developers will be held from
noon-3 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m. in Ohio Union Buckeye Suite E, 1739
N. High St. Campus Partners, the redevelopment corporation
established by Ohio State, has been buying property in the 11th
and High Street area and proposes the University Gateway Center
as the centerpiece of a refurbished University District.
Proposals from the developers are due in late February.

UNIVERSITY HOLDS MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CELEBRATIONS--Jan. 13-18.
Ohio State will honor Martin Luther King Jr. with a number of
events. The Rev. Calvin Butts, III, a civil rights activist and
pastor of Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York City,
will keynote the 27th annual tribute to King on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.
in the Ohio Union Conference Theater, 1739 N. High St. The King
tribute is sponsored by the Office of Minority Affairs, the Frank
W. Hale Black Cultural Center and King Avenue United Methodist
Church.

Students will perform community service duties at several
locations Jan 13-18. The volunteer activities include serving
lunch and cleaning up at the Pauline Home for the Aged and the
Martin Janis Senior Center, and supervising and interacting with
youngsters at several locations.

Paula Innis, president of Full Court Press, will be the keynote
speaker at a luncheon celebrating the memory of King, Monday,
Jan. 18, 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Ohio Union Stecker Lounge. The
luncheon is sponsored by the Minority Service Leaders Program, a
leadership development program for ethnic minority students at
Ohio State.

LAW DEAN ELECTED LEADER--Ohio State University College of Law
Dean Gregory H. Williams was named president of the Association
of American Law Schools during its annual meeting Jan 4-8 in New
Orleans. Williams is the fourth president of AALS from Ohio
State in the nearly 100-year history of the organization. More
than 160 law schools are part of the AALS, whose goal is to
improve the legal profession through education.
