The Ohio State University News and Feature Service
A Service of the Office of University Communications
January 12, 1999
Here are descriptions of the radio stories available on
the Ohio State University Info Line, January 15 through
January 22, 1999. Stories are changed at noon on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday. If you need a re-feed of a missed story, please call
Amy Murray at 614-292-8385.
Due to the Martin Luther King Day Holiday, Ohio State
University and University Communications will be closed on
Jan. 18. A new Info Line story will be available at noon Wednesday.
Friday 1/15-Wednesday 1/20 - More than thirty years after
the assassination of Dr. King, how close are we to his dream?
William Nelson, a professor of African-American and African
studies at Ohio State, says the civil rights movement that King
helped create and lead has pretty much disappeared. He says the
issues are different and there is a lack of leadership.
Wednesday 1/20-Friday 1/22 - While babies born two or three
months prematurely may have mild behavior and sensory response
problems, most develop normal motor and mental function. New
research by occupational therapy professor Jane Case-Smith shows
that although preterm babies tend to be more active and more
sensitive to touch than full-term babies, the differences
disappear after the first year.
All feeds include one wraparound report of approximately
1:00 and at least one other actuality plus background material.
If you have questions or want additional information, call Amy Murray
at 614-292-8385.
