STATEMENT FROM EDWARD J. RAY, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
AND PROVOST OF THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY

Bernadine Healy, M.D., dean of the College of Medicine and Public Health, was diagnosed last week with an extremely treatable tumor of the brain. She has undergone surgery and is presently working with physicians on her continued treatment plan. Dr. Healy initially will carry on a reduced schedule, but is deeply committed to the university and will continue her strong and visionary leadership in the college and the Academic Medical Center. Dr. Ronald St. Pierre, vice dean, will be working closely with her on day-to-day college activities. Dr. Kirwan and I have spoken with Dr. Healy at length, and expressed to her our full personal support and that of the university. Our thoughts and prayers are with her as she passes through and beyond this difficult period. We look forward to her full recovery.
