NEWS ADVISORY:
1 MILLIONTH CAMPUS BUS RIDER TO BE RECOGNIZED

COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University’s Campus Area Bus Service (CABS) on Wednesday (3/3) will transport its 1 millionth rider since the Sept. 21 start of the academic year. The passenger will be selected at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the bus stop on College Road behind the Ohio Union.

CABS is the campuswide transit system for students, faculty, staff and visitors to the Columbus campus.

“In response to customer requests, parking challenges and a continually growing campus, CABS has more than doubled its service and ridership during this academic year,” said Sarah Blouch, director of transportation and parking services. “CABS provides bus service to the university 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Blouch said the 1 millionth rider will be recognized as a way to “thank our customers and celebrate the success of CABS.” The winning passenger will receive a variety of gifts donated by the university’s Business Management division, the Jerome Schottenstein Center and local businesses.

University buses take riders to all parts of campus and the surrounding neighborhoods from 6:45 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday. A courtesy shuttle provides a connection from central campus to west campus remote parking from midnight to 6:45 a.m. weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. CABS also provides on-request, adapted transportation to students, faculty and staff with mobility impairments between 6:45 a.m. and midnight Monday through Thursday, 6:45-1 a.m. Friday, 8-1 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to midnight on Sunday.
