
L. LEE WALKER APPOINTED AS OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY BUDGET DIRECTOR
COLUMBUS -- L. Lee Walker, director of public management programs at The Ohio State University and a former director of the state Office of Budget and Management, has been appointed as the university’s director of budget planning.
In the new post, Walker will oversee development of the university’s budget and manage the office that coordinates data for the Board of Regents subsidy model. She is one of four directors in Ohio State’s Office of Resource Planning and Institutional Analysis, a unit within the Office of Finance. The appointment was effective March 1.
“With a combination of state budget leadership, training of public-sector professionals and her expertise in resource allocation, Lee brings a wealth of experience and insight to the budgeting process,” said Eric Kunz, assistant vice president for resource planning and institutional analysis.
Walker, of UPPER ARLINGTON, joined Ohio State in 1991 as an Enarson Executive in Residence. Since 1993, she has served as director of public management programs in the School of Public Policy and Management. Walker will continue teaching budgeting classes for the school.
Walker was the state’s budget director from 1987 to 1991. She joined the Office of Budget and Management as deputy director in 1983 and became assistant director in 1984. She also is a past partner in a private law firm, specializing in small business, real estate and family law. In the 1970s, Walker directed the Ohio Legislative Reference Bureau, conducted research for the Ohio Ethics Commission and served as a personnel officer and public information officer for the Ohio Department of Public Welfare. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio State and holds a law degree from Capital University.
