Friday 6/4-Monday 6/7 - Contrary to popular belief, consumers may benefit when manufacturers are allowed to set minimum retail prices for their products. Ohio State University Economics Professor James Peck looked at a practice known as retail price maintenance (RPM). Some consumer groups say that setting minimum prices is anti-competitive and means consumers will pay more. But Peck says under RPM, consumers may pay less for goods that are in high demand--like popular holiday toys.

Monday 6/7-Wednesday 6/9 - What makes a city visually appealing? Parts of cities that tend to be most well liked have nature, open space, historic significance, a sense of color, and evidence of upkeep. A study conducted by Jack Nasar, a professor of city and regional planning at Ohio State, suggests most cities that don’t do well on visual appeal are sending messages of dullness and disorder.

Wednesday 6/9-Friday 6/11 - The risk of breast cancer recurrence may be influenced by the phase of a woman’s menstrual cycle at the time of surgery for the disease. Research at Ohio State suggests that women are at highest risk for breast cancer recurrence if surgery is done during ovulation. Gayle Page, a professor of nursing and cancer researcher at Ohio State, says it appears that part of the body’s immune response is suppressed during ovulation and further weakened by the surgery itself.
