LUNAR LANDING INSPIRES EGG DROP--June 30. College of Education graduate students in math, science and technology education are looking to the moon for inspiration. They will build "lunar landers" for an egg drop at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday from the top deck of the Arps Hall Parking Garage (B), 1990 College Road. Students hope their landers will protect the eggs. The class illustrates ways to use real-world problems while teaching.

SOLAR CAR RACE PLAGUED BY CLOUDS--through June 29. The Ohio State University Solar Car team has been slowed by clouds in its quest to drive the Red Shift III to victory in Sunrayce 99, a nine-day solar vehicle race. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, General Motors and EDS, teams from 40 North American colleges and universities are participating in the 1,300-mile contest from Washington, D.C., to Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla. The race began June 20 near the U.S. Capitol. Cars are expected to cross the finish line on Tuesday (6/29). Ohio State is participating in its third Sunrayce since it began the program in late 1993. The 1995 team's car, The Red Shift, placed 33rd out of 40, and the 1997 Red Shift II finished 18th out of 40 teams. BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO MEET AT GIBRALTAR ISLAND--July 2. The Ohio State University Board of Trustees will hold its regular July meeting at F.T. Stone Laboratory on Gibraltar Island, Put-in-Bay, Ohio, on Lake Erie, at 11 a.m. Friday (7/2). The meeting is preceded by a 10 a.m. tour of the island.
