OSU POLICE SEEK INFORMATION ON CARJACKING; COMPOSITE RELEASED

COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the man who carjacked and assaulted a university student on June 18.

Police are distributing a description and artist’s drawing of the assailant, who is believed to be a medium- to dark- complexioned African American, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, 140 to 150 pounds, with short hair and a short, thin mustache. He spoke with a Jamaican accent. At the time of the crime, he was wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeved green sweater with blue and white stripes, and multicolored nylon and leather athletic shoes.

On Friday, June 18, at about 2 p.m., a female student was forced into her car at gunpoint in a university parking lot near West 10th and Neil avenues. The assailant drove the student to different locations in the city while demanding money and her ATM code number. The student was struck several times and forced into the vehicle trunk. She was later released at a noncampus location.

OSU Police Chief Ronald Michalec said several hundred crime alert fliers are being posted on campus and in the nearby neighborhoods in an effort to obtain information that would assist in apprehending the assailant. At this time, no suspects have been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ohio State University Police Department at (614) 292- 2121.
