Friday 8/27-Monday 8/30 - As part of the three-year project to renovate Ohio Stadium, the Ohio State University Marching Band will soon move to a new location within the fabled walls of the giant horseshoe. The band is kicking off a campaign to raise $2 million to construct the new facility. Band Director Jon Woods says the current bandroom is too small for the group, which has grown from 144 to 225 musicians and added women to the ranks since 1960. The new bandroom will cost between $4.7 million and $5 million, with the Department of Athletics providing approximately 60 percent of the cost. Construction is scheduled to begin in December of 1999.
Monday 8/30-Thursday 9/2 - They’re the scourge of late-summer outdoor gatherings--yellow jackets are showing up in large numbers to harass, pester and possibly even sting you. Ohio State University Entomology Professor John Wenzel has the buzz on yellow jackets.
Thursday 9/2-Friday 9/3 - John F. Wolfe, publisher of The Columbus Dispatch, will deliver the commencement address during The Ohio State University’s summer ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 2.
