BEAT MICHIGAN WEEK FEATURES BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WALK

COLUMBUS -- The public is invited to experience some real Buckeye spirit while joining the fight against breast cancer. Hundreds of students, faculty and staff from The Ohio State University will join central Ohio residents in the 1999 Beat Michigan Week Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Friday (11/19) at 7 p.m. at the Lane Avenue Park on the corner of Lane Avenue and Kenny Road.

"The breast cancer awareness walk is an excellent opportunity for Ohio State students, faculty and staff to lend their support to this important cause," said Tracy Stuck, director of student activities at Ohio State. "The event will also provide individuals the chance to learn more about the disease that claims thousands of lives each year."

The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute was started by Spielman and her husband, former Ohio State football player Chris Spielman. They have pledged to raise $1 million or more to be dedicated to breast cancer research at the Comprehensive Cancer Center. All proceeds from the event will go to the fund.
