Friday 12/3 - Monday 12/6 - When it comes to shopping, higher-income shoppers may be bigger bargain hunters than lower-income consumers. Ohio State University Business Professor Robert Leone has found that higher-income consumers are more likely to take advantage of bargain prices on certain items by stocking up--and buying less of these goods when prices rise.

Monday 12/6 - Wednesday 12/8 - Eat a low-fat diet, don’t smoke, exercise regularly, use your seat belt. Despite broad-based efforts to educate Americans about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, most people ignore advice to adopt good habits. Angelo Alonzo, a sociology professor at Ohio State, says part of the reason that health messages fall on deaf ears is information overload.

Wednesday 12/8 - Friday 12/10 - Whether young children are harmed or helped by having a mother who works outside the home depends on what kind of a job she has. That’s one finding of a study conducted by Ohio State University Sociology Professor Toby Parcel. She says when mothers return to challenging jobs, their young children fare better than the kids of women who gave up interesting jobs. Staying at home during the early years was only beneficial for mothers who ended up with monotonous jobs.
