Operations and Other Updates
I promised everyone an update when Transportation & Traffic Management, our university business unit that oversees transit and traffic-related services and the parking lease, was settled in to their offices. Services originally provided from the 2578 Kenny Road Transportation Service Annex will continue to be housed in the same location. The administrative offices for TTM, including the customer service office, which handles the purchase of COTA monthly passes and COTA student-opt-in payments, Campus Area Bus Service advertising and payment of any missed parking payroll deductions are now located at 2500 Kenny Road (just across the parking lot from 2578 Kenny Road). As a reminder, TTM is your one-stop shop for:
- The Campus Area Bus Service
- On-demand paratransit service
- Charter bus service
- Vehicle rentals
- University fleet services
- Traffic management for events and construction impacts
- Alternate transit (car-share/vanpool/bicycle amenities)
- Crosswalk analysis
- University management of the parking lease
There is also information about TTM’s services available online at ttm.osu.edu or by calling 292-RIDE or 292-7433.
I also wanted to let you know that the university has formed a Parking Advisory Committee (PAC). Prior to moving forward with the parking lease, we assured you that the university would gather feedback about parking operations. One of the ways we will do this is through the PAC, which is different than the group the university gathered to provide insight while we were determining if we should move forward with the lease.
This committee is chaired by my office and has diverse representation from faculty, staff and students including: the Office of Academic Affairs, the Wexner Medical Center, Business and Finance, the Office of Legal Affairs, Business Advancement, the Office of Student Life, the Department of Athletics, University Senate, the University Staff Advisory Committee, Undergraduate Student Government, and the Inter-Professional Council – just to name a few. The parking lease spells out specific duties for the PAC, including providing input to the university with respect to parking operations and receiving requests from CampusParc for changes in fees or in the designation of parking spaces or permit classes. The PAC’s review of requests for fee changes does not include the yearly rate increases that are already capped by the parking lease. Those rates are held in place by the lease itself. We also expect this group to provide feedback to my office to be shared with CampusParc related to parking operations. In addition to receiving feedback directly from these representatives, the PAC can be contacted via email with ideas, comments and suggestions.
I also wanted to take just a moment to thank everyone for keeping an open mind, providing helpful feedback, and at times, for your patience during our transition this fall. While much of the transition was virtually seamless, I know change can be challenging. CampusParc is receptive to feedback, and we all share the end goal of making our parking operations run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Don’t forget that if you have questions related to parking or every day parking requests, you should contact CampusParc directly at osuinfo@campusparc.com or by phone at 688-0000. There is also a wealth of information available on their website: osu.campusparc.com. CampusParc has been working to get to know the university community and be responsive to your parking needs and questions, so please take the opportunity to get to know them if you haven’t already.
