Buckeye Loop - Ohio State vs. Michigan - The Snow Bowl of 1950

 <itunes:author>The Ohio State University</itunes:author>

 <itunes:subtitle></itunes:subtitle>

"It was like a nightmare. My hands were numb (and blue). I had no feeling in them and I don’t know how I hung onto the ball. It was terrible. You knew what you wanted to do, but you couldn’t do it." - Vic Janowicz, a star halfback for the Ohio State Buckeyes

Possibly the worst game of football ever played, or sometimes considered the best, the Snow Bowl of 1950 is infamous for the conditions in which the Buckeyes valiantly played through.

This particular game had bearings on whether the Buckeyes would win the Big Ten Conference and go to the Rose Bowl. The Snow Bowl was scheduled to be played on November 25th, 1950 at 1pm. By the first quarter there was already five inches of snow on the ground, with winds at 40 mph at 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Over 50,000 fans went to this game who weathered the full-scale blizzard.
