¡Soluciones! is the Spanish word for “solutions.”

On Saturday, January 28, 2006, key Ohio education administrators, Latino community leaders, and public policy makers will gather on the campus of The Ohio State University to begin to identify solutions to the academic achievement gap for Latinos in Ohio.

The purpose of the roundtable is to begin a statewide dialogue on the following three areas:

  • What challenges to closing the academic achievement gap for Latino students are you facing in your schools?
  • What solutions are working to close the Latino academic achievement gap?
  • Where can we go from here to implement some of the identified solutions to closing the Latino academic achievement gap?

Who is participating?

Participants will be personally invited to the roundtable by:

  • The Ohio State University
  • Ohio Department of Education
  • Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs

The five key groups from which participants will be drawn are:

  • School district superintendents & senior administrators
  • Experts in education from colleges of education across Ohio
  • Hispanic/Latino community leaders
  • Elected officials and public policy makers
  • Education experts from across the country
