Vice President for Student Life
The Ohio State University seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Student Life. The Vice President for Student Life provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction to the Office of Student Life, a comprehensive unit dedicated to supporting the educational mission of the University and promoting the best possible overall experience for the diverse student body of approximately 60,000. The Office of Student Life supports every aspect of Ohio State students. experience. Its scope includes housing, campus dining, disability services, the multicultural center, counseling and health services, student organizations and leadership development, and other related operations.
The Vice President for Student Life is responsible for an annual operating budget of $176 million including $37 million in university general funds, $138 million in annual earnings, and $1 million in endowment and miscellaneous income sources. The department maintains a physical plant of 6 million square feet of space in 127 facilities and employs 1000 regular and 4000 student employees. Although most operations are located at the Columbus campus, the Office operates housing and dining facilities at 4 regional campuses and provides oversight and consulting for an array of student services at all regional operations. In addition to providing programmatic and financial leadership for the Office of Student Life, the Vice President will act as an advocate for students in the University community. The incumbent reports to the Senior Vice President and Special Assistant to the President, is part of the President's management team, and broadly collaborates with the Executive Vice President and Provost and other University and community leaders and constituents on all matters affecting the student experience.
