Message from the Chair
The search committee for the position of Vice President of Student Life began meeting in late May. We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to play a role in identifying candidates who can continue the long tradition of excellence in our Office of Student Life.
The university has engaged the search firm of Storbeck/Pimental & Associates. Shelly Storbeck, who has principal responsibility for our search, visited campus in mid-June. She met with a variety of groups and individuals, including a group of student leaders, to familiarize herself with our vision for the new vice president.
At our first meeting we established an ambitious timetable that will culminate in bringing the final candidates to campus sometime during autumn quarter. In addition to establishing the timetable, we have completed the job description which you can find at this website. The first advertisements have appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education. We also will advertise the position in Diverse Issues in Higher Education, Hispanic Outlook, and Women in Higher Education.
Our next tasks will be to determine the review criteria for evaluating the candidates and to develop the interview questions. We plan to meet as needed throughout the summer.
