Just down the street from campus, Jeg Coughlin Sr. started an automotive equipment company.
JEGS Automotive Inc. has become one of the largest and most successful businesses of its kind in the nation--and the Coughlin family has used their good fortune to make a difference.
Through the JEGS Foundation, the family recently donated $10 million to Ohio State. Their gift will benefit The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Expansion, a $1.1 billion revitalization of the research, education and patient care spaces, utilities, infrastructure and green spaces across the Medical Center campus, including new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and Critical Care Center.
Jeg Coughlin Sr., a bladder cancer survivor, hopes the family’s gift will inspire others to give back.
Hopefully many will see what we did and ask, ‘What can we do to be a part of The James and cancer research, too?’”
