Members of the band O.A.R. credit their alma mater with helping them succeed. They've grown for a campus-area band to a platinum-selling group that tours the country.

“People from all over the world travel to Ohio State to get an education," says O.A.R. sax player Jerry DePizzo. “We knew if we were successful at Ohio State, we could be successful all over the country.”

The band takes its Buckeye ties seriously. Last fall, they helped kick off the But for Ohio State campaign with a free "Rock the Oval" concert for students. And recently, they paid it forward with a $50,000 undergraduate scholarship that will benefit a student from Youngstown, Ohio--part of the university’s Ohio Scholarship Challenge, to raise $100 million in scholarships for students statewide.

Says DePizzo: “It personally means a great deal to be able to team up with the university and help the community where I grew up.”
