Vote on The Ohio State University Alumni Association Constitution
Thank you for choosing to cast your vote on the proposed changes to The Ohio State University Alumni Association constitution. We appreciate all that you do for Buckeyes, wherever they call home.
Please read the proposed changes to the constitution, then record your vote to approve or oppose. Cast your vote between September 15 - October 15 and make your voice heard.
No changes are suggested to the criteria that define membership or members, but some proposed language would clarify the constitution. Those items would:
- Define the role of the president/CEO as an ex-officio board member
- Articulate that directors who step up to serve the remainder of an unexpired term may serve their own term if elected
- Indicate that ex-officio board members need not be active members (such as our Student-Alumni Council representative)
Some proposed updates are primarily procedural in nature. For example, the preamble of the constitution would be amended to transfer the vision, mission and values to the board bylaws. Other information that would be added or transferred to the bylaws includes duties of board members, the cadence of terms of service, as well as information about the composition of committees and language specifying that board members’ work is governed by the bylaws.
The creation of bylaws does not require a vote of the association membership, but they are provided here for the benefit of all members.
