Strategic planning: Why you should and how you do it

Due to the success of the Roundtable series in 2014, we are pleased to offer four additional roundtables to be held at the Longaberger Alumni House. These sessions will provide you the opportunity to learn new strategies and share best practices with each other. Each will be held 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the Mount Leadership Suite, where a light dinner will be served beginning at 5:15 p.m. Below are the topics, with a partial description of what will be discussed: 

Tuesday April 7, 2015
Volunteers: Recruiting and retaining the best volunteers

  • How to use Volunteer Match via OSUAA
  • Creating Board Expectations document
  • Defining the role of the board (advisory vs. hands-on)
  • Sharing of best practices for on-boarding volunteers

Tuesday, April 21
Engagement strategies: Creating your plan

  • As a follow-up to the Strategic Planning Roundtable, this session will help create priorities
  • Understand the life cycle of alumni engagement
  • Learn from the OSUAA Constituent and Alumni Engagement team about the strategies used by OSUAA
  • Data: knowing what is in TAS and how to use it to your benefit
  • Develop a plan for the next three years
  • Sharing of best practices

Special Interest Alumni Society only

  • Open discussion about how to maximize the work load of a volunteer-driven society
  • How to effectively engage the university staff member as your Campus Alumni Relations Liaison
  • Learn more about services available through the Alumni Association to assist you
  • Develop relationships with other special interest alumni groups for more collaboration
  • Sharing of best practices

Leaders choice: Open discussion and forum

  • From membership strategies to sustaining membership models, social media, young alumni, fundraising ideas…tonight the topic will be driven by you the volunteers, as we open the floor to talk about the topics most important to you.
