About the Speaker

A Columbus native, Kevin Fitzsimons became interested in photography when he was 12 or 13 years old after hanging out at a neighborhood aerial photography business.

A Wehrle High School graduate, he attended Ohio University for two years before coming to Ohio State to finish his degree, completing a personalized study program in journalism and photography while working on The Lantern.

He became a freelance photographer for The Associated Press, New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek and Black Enterprise Magazine, as well as for The Limited, Express, Lerner New York, Victoria's Secret and Nancy Crow, a quilt artist and fellow Ohio State graduate. In 1982, he joined Ohio State’s University Communications department and retired in February 2018.

He and his wife Linda have two grown children, Erin and Sean.
